I believe that all Hostess products (Twinkies, Ho-Ho's, chocolate cupcakes, pies, etc.) all contain "animal shortening". You also have to be careful with pre-packaged dinners like microwavable meals, boxed pasta/rice, canned soup and soup mix, and more. They'll often put chicken or beef broth into products like vegetable soup, refried beans, rice, and more. Always read the ingredients! Another nasty trick is the fact that miniscule amounts of animal product (even broth) can be hidden under the umbrella term "natural flavors". Many medicines and vitamins (mostly capsules) contain gelatin as well, but it should be listed under "inactive ingredients".
ReplyDeleteRancher told my son's class yesterday during a field trip that jolly ranchers have beef product.
